Today is International Women's Day. It is a day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
The first international women’s day was held in 1911 and we’ve come a long way since then. It’s quite a common question to ask why we still need International Women’s day in 2019 but the power balance (both in work and in life) is still male heavy and it’s great to take the opportunity to promote gender equality.
Here at Meraki we probably take for granted that we have lots of great success stories to share on International Women’s day - 50% of our senior management team is female, 40% of our top 10 performers in 2018 were female and we’ve recently had female promotions too! So far in 2019, 47% of candidates placed into permanent or contract roles have been female!
We’ve got a couple of activities planned to help us promote International Women’s day in each office today. We're going to be spending the day celebrating how far our business has come in supporting female members of staff grow their careers and helping female candidates secure fantastic jobs, we hope you're going to be doing the same!
