Meraki Talent are currently looking to recruit an Accounting Policy Specialist to join a leading firm in the insurance sector in Switzerland. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong IFRS and accounting knowledge to join a leading insurance firm, headquartered in Switzerland.

Duties and responsibilities of the Accounting Policy Specialist

  • Provide bespoke advice and policy interpretation to the finance team along with other business units as required
  • Be responsible for evaluation of non-routine transactions in order to ensure compliance with company rules, regulation and IFRS
  • Responsibility for ensuring proper accounting treatment is adhered to during processes such a product development, new business activities etc.
  • Prepare training material and deliver training to internal customers on topics including accounting matters (existing or emerging)
  • Provide internal training to improve awareness of IFRS accounting concepts & risks
  • Keep up to date with accounting developments of the International Accounting Standards Board (or generally accepted accounting principles) as well as FINMA
  • Stay up to date with new development and identify the requirements and concepts behind accounting principles
  • Being a subject matter expert

Background of the Accounting Policy Specialist

  • University degree in Finance or similar
  • Extensive understanding of IFRS framework, being a IFRS subject matter experience
  • 5 years’+ relevant experience in IFRS
  • Previously experience within audit, insurance or financial services sectors
  • Strong communication abilities, particularly for communicating upwards and influencing senior parties
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong English and German language skills (fluency in both)
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office especially Excel
