Meraki Talent are looking to recruit an Actuary Manager to join a leading accountancy firm in Malta. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Actuary to join a leading firm and work on a varied client portfolio.

Duties and responsibilities of the Actuary Manager

  • Providing a range of assurance and consulting services to a wide variety of clients
  • Your client base will include a mix of small, growing companies and also large entities. You will be working with both local and international clients.
  • Managing the actuarial team and working closely with both audit and non-audit clients
  • Providing assurance on all areas relating to Solvency II
  • Providing assurance on the assessment of regulatory capital requirements
  • Valuation of technical provisions in line with Solvency II principles and IFRS
  • Advising on matters relating to the insurance licence application process
  • Advising on the adoption of IFRS 17 ('Insurance Contracts').

Background of the Actuary Manager

  • Qualification by the IFoA (or equivalent).
  • Previous Manager level experience, including experience of managing a team
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Big 4 firm or other consulting firm experience is preferred
  • Good understanding of a broad range of commonly used reserving techniques and the key reserving issues faced by the insurance industry
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to communicate highly analytical and technical work in straight forward terms for clients
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work to budget and strong financial management skills
  • Committed to developing the individuals within your team and offering support and coaching when appropriate
  • Responsible for your own technical and knowledge development
  • Knowledge in IFRS 17 will be considered to be an asset
