Finance Manager

 Location: Edinburgh
 Salary: £35-45,000 + Benefits
 Job type: Permanent
 Closes: closed

This newly created Finance Manager job in Edinburgh with a boutique financial services business in the centre of Edinburgh is a great opportunity for a newly/recently qualified accountant to join a fun, exciting company as they continue to grow and expand, primarily via organic growth.  Reporting directly to the Head of Finance and managing 2 staff, the Finance Manager will be expected to build great relationships with senior stakeholders right across the business, whilst taking day to day responsibility for all financial reporting, transactional accounting and regulatory compliance.

As Finance Manager, you will manage the financial controls environment, developing it in line with internal and external regulations.  You'll be responsible for a tight quarter-end close and look to develop strong and robust management reporting tools.  In so doing, you'll prepare financial and related information for the Governance committees of the company.  Furthermore, you'll be responsible for preparing finance reporting requirements and Regulatory capital monitoring policies.  But this role is much more than simply reporting on the actuals.  A fair amount of your time as Finance Manager will be spent supporting the Head of Finance in the preparation, monitoring and reporting on the annual budgeting and forecasting process.  You'll offer a rigorous critique of departmental P&Ls, helping "Heads of" understand their business lines better from a finance perspective.  You'll also create robust forecasting scenarios across P&L, capex and cashflow.

To be successful in this role, it is envisaged that you will be a fully qualified accountant (finalists will also be considered), currently working in a financial or professional services environment.  You should have a strong analytical approach with the ability to balance this with a pragmatic style and be able to evidence budgetary control experience and commercial awareness.  Good IT skills, particularly regarding Excel, are taken as a given.  Knowledge and/or experience of Sage would be an advantage.

If you're looking for a role that will lead to Financial Controller or similar, this role is definitely for you.
