This Financial Controller job in Edinburgh with a boutique asset management business is a marvellous opportunity for a qualified accountant with a professional practice background to make a demonstrable difference to the business.  As Financial Controller and working closely with the Finance Director, you will benefit from working in a very varied role that will include, but not be limited to; Monthly management accounts with associated commentary and analysis, the preparation of accounting and performance reports, preparation of the annual budget, forecasting and re-forecasting.

 

The company is a well respected, fast-paced firm with a culture of teamwork and meritocracy and would suit an ambitious qualified accountant looking to work in a supportive, friendly and fun environment.  As  Financial Controller, you'll support not just the group from a finance perspective, but also some of the firm's biggest clients.  You'll be expected to deliver bespoke and accurate financial information, resulting in the need for Board level discussions as and when necessary.  The preparation, review and analysis of monthly management accounts as well as comprehensive Board Reports and ad hoc financial analysis to better aid decision making will all form part of your core duties and responsibilities.

 

In addition, you'll ensure that regulated entities report on their capital requirements accurately, using their capital efficiently.  Moreover, you'll submit VAT returns, prepare FCA financial regulatory returns and prepare small company accounts - liaising with external auditors and tax advisors as necessary.

 

To be successful, it is anticipated that you will be a fully qualified accountant with a background in financial services, either through working in an FCA regulated business, or as an auditor/accountant looking for a first or second move upon qualification.  You'll have the confidence to effectively challenge senior stakeholders and to handle Board level discussions on a not infrequent basis.  Knowledge of accounting systems such as Xero and Sage would be an advantage.
