This Assistant VAT Manager job in Edinburgh is a superb opportunity for an ambitious indirect tax/VAT professional to join a leading firm and play a key part in the growth of the VAT department. The firm has a full suite of clients including listed businesses, large corporates, charities and Ultra High Net Worth Individuals. As Assistant VAT Manager, you’ll work with all clients of the firm, primarily in an advisory capacity, but also taking care of compliance, transaction and liability issues as necessary.
The Assistant VAT Manager will be encouraged to develop relationships with existing as well as new clients and you will be expected to offer advice at face to face meetings as well as in written correspondence. You will be a good technical resource for internal partners and staff – answering VAT queries and supporting these individuals on a variety of VAT matters. These can range from land & property transactions, housebuilding and partial exemptions for example. As Assistant VAT Manager, you will be expected to take responsibility for and be comfortable with complex matters, dealing with queries in an efficient and timely manner.
To be successful, it is anticipated that you will have a formal accountancy or tax qualification (e.g. CA/CTA/ACCA) or in the final stages of qualification. You will be a confident and articulate individual, capable of liaising with senior stakeholders such as internal partners, or external directors/owners of businesses. This is a relatively small, but important team and it’s anticipated that you’ll be keen to progress to Manager/Senior Manager in the short-medium term. It’s an excellent working environment right across the firm. Crucially, it’s an environment where your opinion will be sought and valued. With full support and encouragement from the Head of VAT, it’s an ideal opportunity for an ambitious VAT practitioner to make a lasting contribution to the VAT practice.
