Newly Qualified Accountant

 Location: Edinburgh
 Salary: £35-37,000 + Full Benefits
 Job type: Permanent
 Closes: closed

This newly qualified accountant job in Edinburgh with a boutique financial services business is a great opportunity for a newly qualified accountant looking to make a first move from professional practice into an in-house role. The firm is a boutique financial services company with a deserved reputation for excellence, professionalism and a great place to work.  The firm has several billion pounds of assets under management and is winning new clients at an impressive rate - offering real scope for growth and development.

As newly qualified accountant, you'll work as part of wider team, providing high quality accounting and financial support to a range of clients, predominantly in the private equity, property, venture capitalist and alternative investments space.  This will entail board level discussions with the fund management group and with external advisors.  Working closely with Senior Management, you'll be responsible for a small portfolio of clients, preparing quarterly management accounts, budgets and forecasts - offering bespoke, value-add advice as necessary.  As Newly Qualified Accountant, you'll prepare Statutory Trust, Small Company, Limited Liability Partnership and Limited Partnership accounts, ensuring that all disclosures are correct.  As a consequence, you'll liaise with auditors and tax advisers to ensure accuracy and timely filing of the accounts.  However, it is expected that you'll appropriately challenge auditors and clients alike to ensure good governance and best practices for each fund that the firm administers.

Furthermore, as newly qualified accountant, you'll liaise with fund manages in relation to investor capital calls and drawdowns; actioning if and when required - this will include FX transactions.  Again, you'll be given the freedom to liaise directly with investors regarding these calculations and also their tax returns and annual accounts as required.

To be successful in this post, it is anticipated that you will be a newly qualified accountant looking to make a first move from professional practice.  Applications are welcomed from candidates currently working in smaller independent firms, as well as those working for larger/national firms.  Good working knowledge of IT packages such as Excel and Sage would be particularly beneficial.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious accountant looking to further their career outwith audit.
