PMO Analyst, London (Permanent)

Our client, a leading global financial institution, is seeking an experienced PMO Analyst who possesses a strong background in technology. The team and business and growing rapidly and they need to hire individuals with ambition and drive to ensure they develop with the ever increasing requirements of the business.


  • Update the programme and project lifecycle as business needs change
  • Maintain templates for business cases, status reports and cost profiles
  • Provide guidance to project managers on consistency of documentation such as business cases and status reports
  • Coordinate the bi-weekly status reports process
  • Produce portfolio KPI dashboards using Excel and Sparklines
  • Create management information packs
  • Manage the portfolio-level risk and issues log
  • Create and manage a dependency register across the portfolio
  • Assist with administration and support of projects
  • Build strong relationships with the programme and project managers as well as senior management
  • Facilitate the project management community and culture
  • Maintain a library of best practices and example documentation from past projects
  • Attend post-implementation reviews and write-up reports
  • Track and manage post-implementation review action points
  • Conduct periodic reviews and write up common themes from project reviews
  • Work with the Head of the PMO to establish a benefits management and monitoring framework; own the scheduling and follow-up actions for these
  • Work with the Head of the PMO to establish a project audit function
  • Attend project audit sessions, create action trackers and follow up to completion

Required Experience:

  • A degree or background in Information Technology or Computer Science
  • A proven track record of planning, executing, controlling and closing projects (preferably IT-focused projects)
  • An understanding of business cases, executive sponsorship, project budgeting and financial planning
  • Strong skills in creating and maintaining project and programmes, including plans, risk and issue identification and management, actions, issues and dependencies
  • Knowledge of benefits and dependency mapping, risk management and resource planning
  • Experience of working with third-party suppliers and an understanding of the pros and cons of different contract structures such as ‘fixed-price’ and ‘time and materials’
  • Demonstrable interest in project management and self-education through a variety of mediums
  • Understanding of waterfall, agile and lean techniques and an understanding of situations when each is appropriate
