Project Accountant - 12 month FTC

 Location: Edinburgh
 Salary: £40-45,000 + bonus + pension
 Job type: Permanent
 Closes: closed

This Project Accountant job in Edinburgh with a global financial services business is an excellent opportunity for a fully qualified accountant with strong IFRS knowledge to join the policy and advisory team offering accounting advice and guidance with respect to various projects and initiatives on the IFRS financial statements.  As Project Accountant, you will develop excellent working relationships with Group functions, operating at the heart of the decision-making process.

Our client is a listed entity and must therefore be able to report its performance to the market in a clear way that makes it easy to understand the key drivers behind business performance and the opportunities that exist for its development.  As Project Accountant, you will be involved in the designing the reports that go to market; keeping abreast of reporting developments and looking at ways to improve the reporting process.

Specifically, you will participate in strategic projects to ensure that all IFRS accounting issues are considered, their impact is fully understood and that business opportunities are maximised.  You will be involved in ad hoc business projects, providing IFRS accounting advice and guidance – acting as the “go to” person for areas across the Group relating to IFRS queries.  The Project Accountant will also play a key role in the Group’s IFRS external reporting, including the reporting of performance metrics.  You will also be expected to research emerging IFRS issues, assess their impact on the Group’s IFRS results and oversee the implementation of new standards across the Group.

To be successful, you will be a qualified accountant with post-qualified experience in a financial services environment and be able communicate and influence a wide stakeholder group.  The business is going through a tremendous amount of change, and this project accountant role is a pivotal role in the ongoing evolution of the business.
