This Tax Planning Consultant job in Edinburgh for a financial services business is a unique (and rare!) opportunity for a private client tax practitioner to provide high quality tax advice on a range of areas to a diverse stakeholder base.  Working as part of a diverse team across the UK, you'll add value from a tax perspective on a range of issues surrounding pensions, Bonds, ISAs, Inheritance tax and Trusts to name but a few.  The company is a leader player in the market, and this dedicated and focussed team provide high quality tax support to Sales, Marketing and other stakeholders within and outwith the business.


As Tax Planning Consultant, you'll provide comprehensive tax advice to a range of financial advisers, usually on the telephone, but also in person from time to time, for complex tax, trusts and wealth transfer cases.  As Tax Planning Consultant, you'll be able to communicate complex tax information with clarity to ensure that they're able to best advise their clients from a tax planning perspective.  To do so, it's expected that you'll keep right up to date by monitoring, analysing and communicating current and impending changes to tax legislation from HMRC, the Department for Work and Pensions, The Treasury department and other key sources.  You'll offer meaningful analysis and apply your influence to internal and external stakeholders to best effect, building relationships to support business decision and influence regulative and legislative change.


To be successful, it's anticipated that you'll be an experienced tax practitioner working in a sizeable personal tax department for a firm of chartered accountants or solicitors.  You may not be a subject matter expert in all areas, but you will have the aptitude and desire to learn.  A self-starter with a positive engaging manner, you'll be looking for a role that gives you the time and autonomy to thoroughly research tax legislation in order to provide high quality advice.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a given, as much of your advice will be given in written format as well as spoken.  You'll have the customer at heart, and be able to work across boundaries to ensure that you're advice reaches the widest possible audience.
